There will be days when it feels like everything is falling apart. The clients stop calling, the money doesn’t stretch far enough, the dream that once felt so vibrant begins to dim. You sit at your desk, stare at your to-do list, and wonder, “Why am I doing this?”
If this is you today, I want you to take a deep breath. Let your shoulders drop. Place a hand over your heart and know that you are not alone.
The entrepreneurial path isn’t linear, especially for women because we have different challenges like home, family, and gender bias. Being an entrepreneur is a spiritual and personal development journey as much as a business one. And the moments when you want to quit? Think of those as sacred. They are invitations to recalibrate, realign, and remember who you really are.
As a holistic psychologist, intuitive healer, and entrepreneur myself, I’ve walked this path. I’ve worked with thousands of women who’ve felt just like you do now; exhausted, disillusioned, on the edge of burnout and I have been there too. And what I want you to know is this: You can move through this. Not by pushing harder or hustling more, but by turning inward and supporting yourself holistically – body, mind, and spirit.
Let’s talk about how.
Honor the Pause
The feminine doesn’t thrive in constant motion. Our culture rewards productivity and output, but your power lies in your ability to pause and notice how far you’ve come. Take your focus off of your to do list and make an “I did it!” list. When you feel like quitting, don’t force yourself forward. Instead, stop. Breathe. Listen and take note of your wins.
Take a day or an hour if that’s all you can manage and step away. Turn off the notifications. Make a cup of tea. Walk in nature. Journal. Ask your soul what it’s really trying to tell you. Consider that it’s simply not time yet for the things to come to you that are meant to. Resting truly helps you to feel refreshed when you get back to the work.
Often, when we want to quit, it’s not the dream that needs to die, it’s the way we’re going about it. Your inner voice may simply be saying, “This isn’t working anymore. Let’s find a better way.” Then activate your ability to trust the flow of life by getting quiet and listening on the inside. When you work against it in fear, it only makes things worse for you.
Tend to Your Nervous System
Chronic stress is a creativity killer. When your nervous system is dysregulated, everything feels overwhelming. You can’t make decisions clearly, you lose touch with your intuition, and you start spiraling in fear.
Holistic support begins with regulation. Here are a few simple tools I recommend:
- Whole Person Integration Technique: My proprietary process that helps you release the emotional energy that gets trapped in the body (or other similar ones that work for you).
- Grounding Practices: Walking barefoot on grass or sand, deep cleansing breaths (in through the nose and out through the mouth), or placing your hands on your heart and belly while feeling your feet planted on the ground.
- Nervous System Nourishment: Magnesium-rich foods like nuts, avocados, leafy greens, bananas, and black beans and herbal teas like chamomile and tulsi, as well as consistent sleep hygiene.
Your business can only grow as sustainably as your nervous system is stable. Find ways to calm the system, and the clarity will return.
Rewrite Your Inner Story
What are you telling yourself right now?
Maybe it sounds like:
- “I’m not cut out for this.”
- “I’ll never make it.”
- “No one wants what I have to offer.”
- “I will never be good enough to make it.”
These beliefs don’t come from the truth of who you are, they come from your wounding. Old stories from childhood, society, or past failures. But here’s the gift: you can rewrite them.
Use this simple practice:
Step 1: Name the belief
Step 2: Ask, “Where did I learn this?”
Step 3: Ask, “Is it ultimately true?”
Step 4: Reframe it with a healing truth that reflects who you desire to become.
For example:
Old belief: “I’m failing.”
New belief: “I am learning, growing, and being refined by this process. Going through doubt, fear, and hesitation is helping me to grow.”
Speak this new belief aloud every day. Let it anchor into your cells as you let go of old beliefs to reveal your own truth.
Surround Yourself with Soul-Aligned Support
Isolation is potentially dangerous for entrepreneurs, especially for women who carry so much emotionally and energetically. As women, we also thrive in community. Creating a family of like-minded business owners is necessary. You don’t have to do this alone. In fact, you shouldn’t.
Find your people. Whether it’s a coach, a mastermind group, networking group, or a sisterhood of fellow visionaries, surround yourself with others who see you and can reflect your brilliance back to you when you forget. Consider finding an accountability partner whom you meet with on Zoom every two weeks to update one another on what you accomplished and what you’d like to do next.
And don’t be afraid to reach out for deeper healing when needed. If there’s trauma, unresolved grief, or chronic patterns holding you back, there is no shame in seeking help. In fact, you will need to so that you can get to the next level of your business. Letting go of what keeps you stuck is an act of growth that leads to success. You deserve support that honors your whole being.
Recommit to Your “Why”
When the day-to-day gets heavy, go back to your original inspiration.
Why did you start this business?
Was it to create freedom for your family? To share your gifts with the world? To be a voice for something bigger than yourself?
Write it down. Say it out loud. Feel it in your body.
Your “why” is your North Star. Even when the skies are cloudy, it’s still there guiding you. Let it reignite the flame within you.
Redefine Success Through the Lens of the Soul
So often, we feel like quitting because we’ve been measuring success in a way that was never meant for us.
Maybe your numbers aren’t what you hoped. Maybe the launch flopped. But ask yourself: What if success was also…
- Feeling more connected to yourself
- Creating something from your truth
- Living in alignment with your values
- Healing generational patterns
- Truly helping others to grow and heal
When you begin to define success in these soul-led ways, everything shifts. You realize you’re already succeeding in ways the world can’t measure – not that success can be measured in the first place. Some of the richest people on Earth aren’t necessarily good people. Integrity and character over all things will make you more successful than anyone.
Let It Be Easy
Here’s a radical truth: What if it doesn’t have to be so hard?
The wounded part of us believes we must struggle to prove our worth. But the healed woman, the embodied entrepreneur, knows that ease is her birthright.
Look at your business. Where are you overcomplicating things? Where are you doing what you “should” instead of what feels aligned? Where can you soften?
Let yourself receive. Let things come to you. Let the path unfold without force. Make plans and surrender to the fact that plans change. Quite often, things become something much better than you could have imagined. There are many welcome surprises along the path of entrepreneurship. You just have to let them in and follow the flow of your business. It has a life of its own.
A Final Word: You Are the Medicine
Your journey is not just about building a business. It’s about becoming more of who you truly are. Every challenge, every breakdown, every “I can’t do this anymore” moment is here to usher you into your next evolution.
You are the medicine this world needs. Your voice, your story, your essence – it all matters. And while the path may not always be easy, it will always be worth it.
So, if you’re on the verge of quitting, don’t. Not today. Today, pause. Breathe. Come back home to yourself. And remember:
You are powerful.
You are supported.
You are exactly where you need to be.
Keep going. The world is waiting for exactly what you have to share.
